God Is – On The Move – In My Life

God was. He Is. And He always will be. God is and has always been on the move. Creating. Redeeming. Restoring. Transforming. You have a Father in heaven who loves you. Your Father – the God of the universe – has incredible plans for your life. He knows the plan He has for. His plans have your best interest in mind and He has an incredible future in store for you. Whether you see it or not, whether you believe it or not, your Father is always moving and working on your behalf.

“I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come–the Almighty … says the Lord God, “He who is and was and evermore will be–the Ruler of all.”  Revelation 1:8 NLT

God was. He Is. And He always will be. God is and has always been on the move. Creating. Redeeming. Restoring. Transforming. You have a Father in heaven who loves you. Your Father – the God of the universe – has incredible plans for your life. He knows the plans He has for you. His plans have your best interest in mind and He has an incredible future in store for you. Whether you see it or not, whether you believe it or not, your Father is always moving and working on your behalf.

Whether you see it or not, whether you believe it or not, your Father is always moving and working on your behalf. When you don’t want Him, He moves AROUND you working as much good as possible in your life while honoring your free will. When you invite Him, He moves INSIDE of you, changing you from the inside out.

Whether you feel it or not, whether you know it or not, God is ALWAYS on the move in and around your life. God IS. He has been moving since before the foundation of the world. He is large and in charge – moving in every square inch of the entire universe at this very moment. However, He is also near and dear yearning to move deeply and intimately in every fiber of your being and every intricacy of your life.

Are you ready for the greatest adventure of your life? Are you ready for God to be – on the move – in your life? Your Father has been waiting a long time with great anticipation for this moment, so let’s not wait another second.

Father come.

Have your way in my life.

I thank you that you saw me before the foundation of the world

And sent Jesus to save me and bring me back into relationship with you

I thank you saw me before I even existed

That you knit me together in my mother’s womb

I thank you for working AROUND me since the moment I came into existence

And now in this moment, I invite you to come work IN me and THROUGH me.

In every detail, in circumstance, in every situation, in my hopes/dreams, in my fears/failures

Take it all. Have it all.

Father God I give you permission to MOVE in my life however you want

Whether it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, full of joy or super awkward

Have your way and move in my life without limitations or parameters

Acts 17:24-28 NLT

24 “He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, 25 and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need. 26 From one man[f] he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.

27 “His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us. 28 For in him we live and move and exist.

Playing Hide & Seek With An Omnipresent God

You may FEEL hidden or distant from God, but the REALITY is that there is nothing that can separate you from the love of Christ. Your emotions or present circumstances can make you FEEL separated just like Adam and Eve in the garden. But don’t worry. God sees you hiding and He has already found you. He is behind you, before you, and all around you.

I heard a funny story the other day…  A priest asked a mischievous boy, “Where is God?” The boy was scared and did not respond, so the clergyman repeated the question in an even sterner tone, “Where is God?” Again the boy made no attempt to answer, so the clergyman raised his voice even more and shook his finger in the boy’s face, “WHERE IS GOD?” At that, the boy bolted from the room, ran directly home, and slammed himself in his closet. His older brother followed him into the closet and said, “What happened?” The younger brother replied, “We are in BIG trouble this time. God is missing and they think we did it!”

Sometimes God seems like a distant, unsearchable mystery. But is He really? What kind of Father would hide from His children? I am pretty sure no one would want a father like that. Feelings can be wonderful friends but they can also distort our perceptions too. Although God may FEEL far away the reality is that you have a LOVING Father who is near and dear. He is not a distant and unsearchable mystery. He is an ever present help in time of need.

How can someone who fills the entire universe with His presence hide anywhere? It’s like an elephant trying to play hide-and-go-seek in a broom closet. Since God is infinite, it’s actually impossible for Him to hide. The heavens and earth shout His existence. Everywhere you turn He is there!

David echoes this thought in his own reflections in Psalms 139

Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you. Psalms 139:7-12 (NIV)

It’s impossible to play hide-and-go-seek with an omnipresent God because wherever you go, He IS.

At the same time, God has created His children with free will and He has sovereignly promised to honor our free wills. In the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve tried to hide from God. Like the humorous story of the boys I recently heard, Adan and Eve were actually convinced that they could make hide from an omnipresent being. God must think we are so silly sometimes. We are like the little kids who think if they close their eyes no one will be able to see them either.  In our finite minds, we think God is hidden but He is always there.

Even if you feel lost, God is never lost. You may feel that God is a million miles away, but He has never left your side. You see God is the ultimate in SNEAKY. He is Jehovah sneaky. After they sinned, Adam and Eve created this ingenious plan to hide from God. The only problem was that is your Dad is an omnipresent and omniscient being He already knows every move you will make and every action you will take.

In the same way, God has already seen every single move you will make. He knows more about your future than you do! He knows all the mistakes you will make and He has already forgiven you. He sent Jesus as the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world. Jesus has not just paid for your past, He has also paid for your future.

So when you sin, STOP HIDING. There is no point really. God already knows what you did and He knows exactly where you are. Shame is an intoxicating potion that distorts reality. My shame lies to me saying “You can’t go to God like this. He will be angry. He will be disappointed. He will be hurt. I don’t know how God is going to respond to yet another of my stupid decisions.”

Feelings are real and often valuable. However, in this case, my feelings are TOTALLY RIDICULOUS. The FACT is that I know exactly how God will respond. God has once and for all decided how He will respond to me after every time I sin. He will respond by giving me the blood of Jesus and blotting out my every failure. So let’s go boldly to the throne of grace knowing

Father I CAN go to you like this. You are not surprised by my sin.

I can hide from myself… But I can never hide from You

Father you know all my mistakes – past, present, and future

So I come to the throne of grace knowing the blood of Jesus washes me clean as snow

Your justification means that you see me JUST-AS-IF I have never sinned

You may be sad and disappointed by my actions but you have had millions of years to prepare for this moment because you knew this would happen before you created the world

Your judgments are not scary… Your judgments are beautiful and wonderful because they are aimed at anything that is holding my heart back from Love

So come Righteous Judge… Come with your sword to cut between Spirit and Soul that I might be free from weight that so easily entangles

I am tired of wasting my life hiding, it’s time to RUN wholeheartedly into the life you have made me for

Fixing my eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of my salvation and faith journey

Father, I want to be your legit child who is totally surrendered to your molding process

Come, Master Potter, take this human clay

Mold my life into the beautiful masterpiece you had in mind when you created me

Hebrews 12:1-9

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.

And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said,

“My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s [molding and shaping]
and don’t give up when he corrects you.
For the Lord [molds and shapes] those he loves,
and he [moldes and shapes] each one he accepts as his child.”

As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father? If God doesn’t discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children at all. Since we respected our earthly fathers who disciplined us, shouldn’t we submit even more to the discipline of the Father of our spirits, and live forever?
